| Open Letter from the CRLL VP Baseball - Wednesday, December 23, 2009
Hello All,
As we all know spring ball is just around the corner and its now time to start registration. Some of you are familiar and some are not with the "Team" concept that we are going to try this season. These "Teams" will be formed to help manage the various activities that need to take place throughout the season. We'll make sure to clearly define and explain this concept a little better at one of our next board meetings.
That being said, I'll be leading the registration team and I'm now looking for volunteers. These volunteers do not have to be solely CRLL board members. We should try to get more of the community involved. So spread the word! Talk to friends, family, neighbors, anyone you think that might like to get involved but doesn't want a "Board Member" title.
We're planning on setting up two registration sites. One at the skate park fields during flag football. The snack bar will also be open during this time. The other will be at Monkey Business. I think we should have three people at each site with at least one of them being a CRLL board member to answer any type of questions that may come up. These are the dates and times we're looking at:
Jan. 9th, 16th, & 23rd
Skate park - 9 am to 12 pm.
Monkey Business - 12 pm to 3 pm.
We"ll see how the first day works out and adjust times and/or days as we need to.
If this is something you would like to get involved with or know someone who would please let me know.
Thank you,
Michael Waldorf |

| Note from District 5 LL regarding Fall Ball - Thursday, August 27, 2009
Handout: Teams by League
Hello to all......
First, on behalf of D5 I would like to express our sincere thanks to each of you for the tremendouse effort and work that has been put into assembling the D5 Fall Ball baseball divisions. Please find attached the summary as of tonight.......As you will see listed below the response has been outstanding with this the first year of this new concept of having an Instructional Division and Competitive Division...something for everybody......Please take a look at your respective league numbers, I just want to make sure they are correct to date....If there are any changes, please let me know....
Schedules will begin to be formulated within the next day or say and should be out to all by early next week....
Pre-Season coaches rules review and roster submittal meeting reminder; Wednesday, September 9th at the Windmill Inn--since we have 65 teams to date, it will be easier and more efficient to split the meeting into 2 sessions:
7:00 PM - Instructional Division teams
7:45 PM - Competitive Division teams
Umpires:
Instructional Divisions: All volunteer....Home team to provide plate umpire, Visiting team the base umpire--this is a good opportunity to have assistant coaches do this task because it allows for further on the field instruction
Competitive Divisions: 2 umpires will be assigned by D5 (Mr. Bill Fronzaglio, UIC Upper Baseballs). The blues will be compensated...The fee schedule is as follows:
Major Gold and Silver Divisions: Both teams to provide $25.00 payable at the pre-game meeting at home plate.
Junior 80 Gold/Senior Wood Bat Divisions: Both teams to provide $30 payable at the pre-game meeting at home plate...
For the Junior 80 Gold the first Saturday of play the umpires that are scheduled to work these games will be providing a clinic that will deal with "What constitutes a balk" The objective is to have the blues review with all the players from both teams at the mound prior to the first game describing what a balk is, and what causes a balk...Balks will not be called the first 3 weeks of the season to allow for the pitchers to adjust to holding runners on, plus it will allow for further training when a balk is evident during these first 3 weeks--the umpire can explain to the pitcher.....
Once again, thank you to you and your staff for the effort and help on making this happen.
Bill Leith, D5 |

| CRLL Juniors are District 5 Silver Division West Champions - Friday, May 29, 2009
The CRLL Junior team won the District 5 Silver Division West Championship Thursday night with a 4-3 win in 7 Innings over Coronado.
Bradley Gonzales Pitched 5-1/3 innings, Ryan Williams closed out the balance of the 6th inning. Mike Doty came in at the top of the 7th to hold a 3-3 tie.
In the Bottom of the 7th Garrett Lawley was struck by a pitch giving CRLL a runner on first with 1 out. Dominic Dicochea replaced Garrett as a special base runner and managed to make it to 3rd on a combination of Steal and a Sacrifice. With 2 outs Coronado intentionally walked Cody Stone bringing up Bradley Gonzales. Bradley smashed a hit to Left-Center field bringing in Dominic and sealing the Championship.
There will be a single game playoff between CRLL and the East Division Champions Sabino Canyon, Wednesday night 7PM at Mehl Park.
